What we do

Alice's PC Jumpstart helps individuals get over obstacles they face in becoming efficient and happy computer users. We offer friendly personalized lessons that are tailored to each client's needs, learning style, and learning speed.

We help you become comfortable with software, hardware, and the Internet. If you wish, our WebStart program will help you get started with a website.

How we work with you

Steps

1. You contact us by telephone. If you get voicemail, please leave a brief message with your name (first name is o.k.), your phone number (include area code), and a good time for us to call you.
2. We have a conversation to determine whether Alice's PC Jumpstart is right for your needs and wants. There is no obligation. For some people, this conversation is all they need to get "jumpstarted".
3. If you decide our service sounds right for you, we decide together on a good time to meet and on payment terms.
4. Usually, we ask you to line up some questions and goals before we meet.
5. Typically, we come to your home or office and a session lasts approximately 2 hours. We've found that you really need to have daily access to a computer for effective learning. We can help you with buying decisions if you need that. Once we are familiar with each other, we can sometimes arrange telephone consulting as well as in-person sessions.

Payment

Payment for Alice's PC Jumpstart is time-based. Our work is guaranteed. After about an hour, we'll ask if the session is working for you. If not, you do not pay and we end the session with no obligation and no hard feelings. Despite our best efforts, we cannot always know if we will be a good match for your needs.

Style

We are informal and gentle. We pay attention to your rhythms and your learning style. We are used to beginners and to people who have gaps in knowledge. We individualize lessons for each client.

A PC Jumpstart session is successful if you feel you've had some useful progress. We want you to accomplish at least some of the goals you outlined.

Look at the following common reasons clients come to us. We've put them in three categories. You are definitely a potential PC Jumpstart client if any of the complaints sound familiar. Contact us if you have a new complaint or question we might be able to help with.

Category: Computer use

• I'm always afraid that I'll break something or that the computer will eat my work. Sometimes my work just disappears!
• I know there is a lot I am missing, but don't know how to find out what it is.
• I've looked at the books for "dummies" and I can't understand them!
• I can't install new software, so I am stuck with what came with the computer
• I don't understand why my computer is so slow. What can I do?

Alice's PC Jumpstart is a service of Alice's Enterprises, located in Marlborough, Massachusetts. We serve the Boston area, Metrowest, and southern New Hampshire. However, we have had clients on Cape Cod, New York, and California so please call if you might be interested in service in your area.
